Enable haptic feedback for Samsung A/M/F series android phones
Unfortunately and unreasonably so, Samsung doesn't enable haptic feedback for their mid tier phones. Notable amongst these are A/M/F series phones. (a single F in A sea of M!).
There is hope though. The following steps will help to enable haptic feedback on your favorite A/M/F series phones.
- Install google Gboard (Google keyboard) on your phone.
- Open Gboard and got to Settings > Preferences
- Under Preferences, enable Haptic feedback on keypress option and set the Vibration strength on keypress. (Tip: keep the strength at least 20 or higher else won't even be noticeable)
- Once the above step is done, go to your phone's Settings > General management
- Under General management, select Language and input > On-screen keyboard
(pretty deep settings nesting by Samsung!) - Under On-screen keyboard, click on Manage keyboards to enable the Google keyboard.
- Finally, set the Google keyboard as the Default keyboard. You are done!
- Start enjoying haptics feedback on your mobile keyboard as you type.
Tip: You may want to switch off the following additional setting (under Gboard Settings > Advanced to limit what data you share with Google.
Disclaimer: The above steps were successfully performed on a Samsung F41 but are expected to succeed on any A/M series too due to very similar nature of hardware/software combination.
